Ensemble in Process will have its next live event at The Cell Theatre, NYC on 26 October, 2023 at 8pm. Just in time for the Halloween holiday, Processing the Supernatural will be concert of works with themes pertaining to the paranormal. Works to be performed by Katharine Balch, Tessa Brinckman, Erik Satie, Juhi Bansal, Missy Mazzoli, and yours truly. Processing the Supernatural will feature performance collaborations by Tessa Brinckman, Allyson Clare, Rose Hegele, Mithuna Sivaraman, James Acampora, Hikaru Tamaki, and yours truly.

Ensemble in Process makes its Northern California debut with a second performance from our successful concert at Spectrum NYC on the 14th of September, 2019.  Light of Strings is a special concert that will take the audience on an intimate journey of faith, spirituality, catharsis, grief, redemption, and light. Brian Mark (piano) and Allyson Clare (violin) will perform a combination of solo and duet works for piano and violin, viola. Brian Mark (piano) and Allyson Clare (violin/viola) debut their California tour with works by Brian Mark, Meredith Monk, Steve Reich, Ursula Kwong-Brown, Ian Dicke, Yann Tiersen, Michael Gordon, and Ted Hearne. Also on this programme includes a performance by LA based clarinetist Dana Howell.

Ensemble in Process: Surrealist Dreamscapes

Ensemble in Process makes its Midwest debut with Madison based trombonist Cole Bartels, who will be performing a duo concert set with works for solo trombone, piano, and the Beltline Bones, with two works written for Bartels and his quartet from Brian Mark. Surrealist Dreamscapes will also feature works written by Eve Beglarian, Missy Mazzoli, Pauline Oliveros, David Lang, Michael Gordon, Erik Satie, and Yann Tiersen. The Astoria Music Project

The Astoria Music Project gives its second live performance of “Harlem (A Dream Deferred)”, a small chamber ensemble work based on the text of Langston Hughes. This performance will take place at Scholes St. Studio in Brooklyn on December 5th at 4pm, along with works by other New York City based composers. The Astoria Music Project originally commissioned and premiered this work as part of their Call for Scores from 2019.

Ensemble in Process/Ryder Dance

Ensemble in Process teams up with RyderDance for two hour concerts (back to back) at the Old Stone House of Brooklyn on October 17th (2.30pm and 4.30pm). The Illusion of Separateness will be a collaborative journey dissecting the new reality of “social distancing” and the human ability to connect during a time of being apart. Works by Meredith Monk, Erik Satie, Joseph Gregorio, and yours truly, with a new work (title of event) written for this event. Performers include Madeline Hocking (Violin), Cole Bartels (Trombone), with Brian Mark on piano, and dancers Laura Mendes, Alyssa Myers, Oscar Antonio Rodriguez, and Miriam Rose. Ensemble in Process: Processing Global Warming

Ensemble in Process… tackles the current global warming crisis with a variety of works pertaining to the environment, nature, ocean landscapes, and of other aspects of climate change. Processing Global Warming will include works by Jon Lin Chua*, John Adams, Allison Loggins-Hull, Evan Fein, Ian Dicke, Brian Mark, Juhi Bansal, and Darian Thomas, with performances from the US, UK and Hungary, featuring Allyson Clare, Rose Hegele, Philip Snyder, Helen Vidovich, Madeline Hocking, and Brian Mark. Any donation proceeds from this concert will be freely given to the Coalition for Rainforest Nations. Note, this event will be pre-recorded and streamed online, as it was rescheduled from the cancelled April 18 live performance in Brooklyn, NYC due to COVID-19. SōSI 2020: Day of Awesomeness

As a participant of the 2020 Sō Percussion Summer Institute, I’m pleased that my earlier 2012 piece “Contact” was revised for this festival, with a video installation of the work created for the workshop. The festival with 19 new work premieres begins at 4pm and ends at 9pm, with “Contact” being featured on the 6pm set. “Contact” was recorded by Hunter Gross, Elijah Shina, and Zach Wilson.
